Crush Covid: Ride for Mind – $445,000 Raised

March 13, 2021 – Toronto, ON –

Just wanted to say thank you all for the fantastic support and encouragement leading up to and after the event.

I set out with an objective I truthfully didn’t know I’d be able to finish but with the support of my friends in the triathlon community, my colleagues at work and of course my wife Joy, I was able to reach the virtual finish line by keeping a steady pace of riding 200km on Zwift with an elevation of 2400m.  Personally, this was my longest ride ever both from a distance and time (6h49m) perspective and I also completed a full Ironman distance (180km) and a double century (200km). It took a lot of mental focus to get thru those final 20km but I’m happy to report that I persevered!

More importantly, I cycled to do my part for a great cause to raise funds for mental health personally raising over $1,000 with your support.

Lastly, I really admire all the hard work City Councilor Brad Bradford and the Toronto Hustle did to organize the Crush Covid 2 – Ride for Mind event and am proud of our collective achievement to raise a whopping $445,000 to go towards building a new mental health facility at the Michael Garron Hospital.

We may be conquering this pandemic via vaccination, but there is still a lot of healing to do and hopefully this is a step in that direction.

Here’s a photo of yours truly sweating it out on the 1-year anniversary of the day the world shut down.

This next photo is my victory cupcake and the first time I had an Oreo cookie (now available gluten free!) in over 10 years and it was delicious!
